Hello (...ello, ello). Is there anybody out there?

There's nothing like waking up to NO ONE around after the Christmas holidays and enjoying that first cup of java!
Thanks for checking in.
I haven't written since the end of the summer so I have a little catch-up to do. I started a part time job working 3 days a week in the marketing dept at VGH & UBC Hospital Foundation.  I still do design work at Jibe Designs. I'm pretty lucky to have this low stress life right now.  It's really the way I want to live. Who ever said working so hard gets you anywhere? Do what you like, the money will follow.  And maybe, just maybe I can win the lottery!  Someone has to.
I've been cycling to work, baking my own bread and meditating to be a better person. My life is pretty simple. I have to take some time and put my thoughts out to the Universe about what I want next year. Maybe my next cup of java will help.....

green thumbs prevail!

Having a garden means having a little food, sustainably. It's cool. Look at the corn in the corner!  There's tomatoes, zuchini, broccolini, cabbage, brussel sprouts, kale, beans and carrots growing and we're going to freeze the brussel sprouts for Christmas when Megan comes home.  (don't tell her but no one here really likes bs). The little bugs that usually ate the lettuce last year have been thwarted due to egg shells in the compost soil!  A coo really (but one that we made by mistake)!
My sister Ria gets all the credit here.  I only keep the garden watered.
Next year, we expand!
Might not be a place to sit.
But by God, we will eat vegetables!!

I'm back in the saddle again.......

I've been away a long, long time.
Thanks for pointing this out cousin Barbara!

News is, I've sublet my apartment again for a different adventure this time; living with my sister so that I can really decide where my work path is going to take me.

So many opportunities pop out at you in a day.  The question is, which one are you going to take?
I've been contemplating this for a year now and pretty much everyday is an adventure to knowing more about myself.  We change as we get older.  I mean, we change all the time but life is like that and you either go with the flow or resist the inevitable.
Taking the Multimedia course has led me to a few interesting opportunities but has also had that nasty word "FEAR" crop up into my mind.  It's easy to go back to the familiar but probably better if you face your fears about unfamiliar territories.
I'm poor, but I'm happy!
I wouldn’t change a single thing about how I have gotten here, for every open door that I have walked through has led me to this beautiful life I am living......

Nibbler and Me

I've been taking care of a friend's cat "Nibbler" while the family's on March break vacation and life's been rough (as you can see)!  Nibbler is a total hugger and I mean he hugs any part of you he can sit on!  It's nice. Just wish he'd loose the claws...they are sharp!  I was supposed to take care of two cats but dear "Mittens" passed away the day before their vacation.  Sadly she is missed by Nibbler and that's why I'm here.  To be sure that his first week without his lifelong dear pal will be easier with someone to lie on.

Aaahhhh blessings sometimes comes with claws....

fresh baked bread with butter

What's more homey than that?
I bake my own bread.
I wish I could tell you that it's like Julia Child or Alexander Chaplin makes, but I use a breadmaker
that I bought @ a yard sale for $20... does the trick for me!
I was inspired by my cousin Barbara while visiting her in Florida last year.  She hasn't bought bread in years!  I thought "I want to do that"!  And since July 2011, I haven't bought a loaf of bread!
Making your own bread is delicious.  You start getting a reputation and then every house warming or visit to a friends.....ya bring bread!
I couldn't be happier.
Oh and its pretty darn economical too..........every organic whole wheat or pesto bread costs me $0.96 to make. Ahhh the simple things in life.

I'm celebrating LOVE Day.

Though my circumstances have changed from year to year, one constant has remained the same: LOVE. No matter what variety of it that I was feeling, or lacking, in some cases, LOVE has always been the deciding factor in how I'd answer the question.

There are all kinds of love. Valentine's Day isn't just about romantic, mushy, gushy love. For me, it's the someone special's (i.e. YOU!) that make up my entire life.
It's not about what kind of love. It's about that unmistakable sense of warmth, comfort, and belonging that comes with Love. It's about the Love that we share with people.
I've realized how lucky I am to be able to feel love.
From my heart to yours, Happy LOVE Day!

Gosh I love pretty thngs!

There's something to be said for "all white".
This isn't really a dress but materials and baubles thrown together and I just think it works.
If I could be surrounded by materials and baubles all day..I would be tickled white!

Sometimes I just wander the streets to get design ideas. It's not unusual to get inspiration this way.  I have folders on my computer filled with pictures I take from these wanderings. Every once in awhile I go through them and try to find a way to pass on my beautiful thoughts.

If nothing else, they make me happy.
Life's short. Enjoy each moment.

Never give up Hope

Felix the Cat
Ahh the joys of getting a good sleep!
This was just too cute to not blog about today. My sister Ria has 2 cats.  She hasn't always had 2 cats.  At one time she had 4.   I lost this one (Felix) while cat-sitting.  He jumped out my 3rd floor window and went missing for 3 weeks and 3 days.  He had just flown here from Toronto so all's he wanted was to go home. It's a long walk Felix.
Needless to say miracles do happen.  We found him 3 blocks from the apartment hanging out at the beach.  They don't have those in Toronto.  It's nice that he decided to stay.
It's easy to love this guy every minute you set your eyes on him.
Never give up hope.

Social Media 101

So did computer testing this morning for a position at St. Paul's and those computer tests really don't cut it!  When you're a computer geek and use shortcuts like I do, remembering how to do it in the "layman's" way was a wee bit trying!

Hire Me Though!
I'm a great worker with a sense of humour!

Getting back to work..........

It's the first day back to work for most everyone and here I sit, in my little office in my little corner of the room and work on getting an administrative/design position.

I'm working on a website for a small sailing business and trying to catch up on all the social media happenings I missed during the holidays!  Facebook has changed it's look (again) and even though I'm hearing a few complaints, I'm going to upgrade my site to comply with the new changes.  It's important to go with the flow.
If it's your first day back at work, enjoy the day of getting back into the swing.
It's been a good holiday and this is going to be a great 2012!

Wrap up to the Holidays!

Christmas and New Years has come....and gone, and it was terrific! I enjoyed time with family and friends and as an aside - I try and creatively wrap all my gifts in a pretty special way using material. This year, I'd like to try and promote myself and my gift wrapping a bit to see where it can lead me as a side gig!

Being a frequent "yard sailor" (and if you know me, you'll get the pun), I try and pick up little nick-knacs that might look special on a gift.

Seems my family really enjoys getting my extra-special wrappings!
Hope you had a wonderful holiday season! Back to the grind as they say!
